Fir Mixed Grain

Douglas Fir has excellent strength properties and is known for its workability and sands to a smooth finish. The sapwood is narrow in width and light in colour, while the heartwood ranges from yellowish to reddish brown. Mixed Grain (MG) Fir is not graded by cut, therefore allowing a “mix” of both flat grain and Vertical Grain (VG). Flat grain has a pronounced wavey grain structure, while VG fir has a tighter, linear appearance. Stocked in Eased Edge random lengths.

Fir Vertical Grain

All the qualities of mixed grain fir with added dimensional stability. VG fir offers an architectural element with its straight grain and more uniform colour. Perfect for staining or natural finished projects. Stocked in Eased Edge random lengths.
